Menchie Numi

Menchie graduated from the University of Papua New Guinea with a degree in Bachelor of Laws in 2019 and after completing her post-graduate legal training at the PNG Legal Training Institute, was admitted to practice as a lawyer in Papua New Guinea in December 2019. She has been working with Young & Williams Lawyers (then Maladinas Lawyers) since 1998 as front desk assistant and accounts clerk. She then became a Legal Assistant and paralegal before her admission.

Menchie has experience in the following matters:-

• In commercial practice: corporate matters, i.e., company incorporation and other matters relating to it. Menchie acted for various clients in property conveyance and share acquisition. Assisted in drafting various commercial documents such as Shareholders Agreement, Deed of Mutual Release and Settlement, Memorandum of Agreement, Addendums, Lease and Sub-Lease Agreements.

• In litigation, assisted and continues to be exposed to and assists on matters involving employment law, company law, family law, property law, general civil and personal injuries claims, and criminal law. Menchie has appeared unsupervised in District Court, National Court and Supreme Court

Acted as Counsel for the Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines.

Menchie is the only Filipino practicing lawyer in Papua New Guinea.

Legal Assistant: Bessie Morea

George Kult

George was admitted to practice law in Papua New Guinea in January 2021. He was awarded the Supreme Court Award for graduating top of his class at the Legal Training Institute. George initially commenced work at Young & Williams as an intern whilst undergoing training for admission and re-joined the firm in a full-time capacity as a lawyer shortly thereafter.

George assists in various litigation matters that the firm is engaged in at all formal Court levels. He has been and continues to be exposed to and assists on matters involving contract and company law, family and matrimonial law, general civil and personal injuries claims, administrative and public law, election petitions and reviews, and criminal law.

George assists and reports to the Managing Partner, Greg Sheppard, Geoff Purvey and Phillip Tabuchi.
